Catching the Wild Yeast: Day 4
What's cooking with my starter today? It's more like what's smelling-read on and find out!
Day 4: From Funk to Yuk
- 1/2 cup flour
- Scant 1/4 cup lukewarm water
The separation of water and flour was back again today, but the good news is the bubbles were still munching away so I'm calling this starter still kicking. The smell intensified overnight so now whenever I get too close it reminds me a mix of foot and something else I can't quite place. From what I've read, the smell is complete normal, but I won't lie it's a little funky! I gave it a quick stir to combine the flour and water that had separated, gave it a meal and covered it back up. Tomorrow is the last day I need to feed the starter before it is ready to use and I cannot wait!
