Catching the Wild Yeast: Day 3
How's the starter doing? Is it eating and bubbling or did I have more separation anxiety? Let's find out!
Day 3: What's that smell?
- 3/4 cup flour
- Scant 1/2 cup lukewarm water
When I peeked in on the starter on day 3, I was treated to a pleasant surprise. The starter was bubbling up like crazy which means that my little wild yeasts are getting their feast on! There was no trace of yesterday's separation issue, just lots of healthy bubbles. I did notice when I went to feed it that it was beginning to give off a bit of a funk but from what I know and have read, this is normal. So funk on starter! I gave it food, mixed it up very well with my trusty wooden spoon, covered it back up with the plastic wrap and tucked it back into it's warm spot to eat and stink.
