Catching the Wild Yeast: Day 5
So life got a little crazy around here and the weather FINALLY got nice so I was outside cleaning up my yard. Which means I forgot to post about my starter:( The good news is I'm almost at the home streach so on Wednesday I'll be sharing my bread results and a yummy starter bread recipe. Enjoy!
Day 5: Last day of feeding
*1/2 cup flour
Today the starter was VERY watery so I skipped adding water and went with only flour. Despite this little hiccup, I still had some amazing bubbles going on. The starter is still alive and munching, even if it is waterlogged!
Day 5 means not only the last day of feeding but today I also have to discard a portion of the starter. This will ensure my starter is robust, healthy and very much alive. So with a little sadness, I scooped out about half of my starter. After the purge, I fed the starter some flour, gave it a good mix and left it be to eat. The next time I see my starter, I will be able to make it into bread and I cannot wait!
