April Showers
So far this year, at the end of each month I have the same feeling. Where in the world did that month go? I’m not sure if this is a sign of my old age :) or if I’m just so busy living, loving and at times trying to hide from life that the days fly by.
We just got back from a long weekend in a cabin in the middle of nowhere. It was a wonderful escape from everything since the cabin right next to a wooded area, had access to a river, and had no WiFi or phone service so we were forced to de-tech. And it was exactly what we needed. We read, tried to be outside (it rained a bunch), watched movies, cooked in the adorable little kitchen, explored a bit, and were just together. Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is pull the plug and force a WiFi hiatus because as crazy as it sounds, we don’t need to access Facebook for hours each day. This vacation helped me recommit to being better about not having my phone as a third limb and enjoying more of what life has to offer. But I will still be around, sharing recipes I love, talking food and sharing scenes from my Kitchen with you all!
And speaking of the Kitchen, we have another holiday this month! Easter is coming and no matter how you celebrate it, there is food involved. Many of the traditions revolve around eggs and ham. As a result, many of the after holiday meals revolve around these foods as leftovers so I’m going to be sharing a few recipes in April to help you and your people gobble up those eggs and leftover ham in new and tasty ways! I’ll also share a few sweets and chat a bit about my garden what I’m trying to grow this year. I hope this month you can take a few moments to stop and look around at all the good stuff going on in your life before throwing yourself back into the crazy tide that is life. Also I hope you get a few peeks at the sun in between all this much needed but a little dreary rainy, grey days. Happy April!
