A New Adventure
Howdy all it's been too long! What have I been up to you ask? Well plenty! After I fell off the food blogging wagon back in May (and to be truthful it was much earlier than that), I've been contemplating, working at my local library, and trying to figure out my voice in this overcrowded space called the Internet.
When I began this journey, I was advised to have at least a year of posts, outlines for the next year, and a clear plan as to what I was hoping to accomplish. So I had maybe one of those and you know what? After a year, it got hard. I was cooking every day, but was not inspired to acually write down, photograph and test the recipes so much as I was to just make them. That's lovely in theory but when you are trying to make a go of a cooking website, you need to test the food, write down what you did and take pictures of it. It was in this headspace that I got word that as of October, we would be leaving the Midwest where I had made myself a nice little home and routine for southern California. Talk about a life 180! I had so many emotions, many of them negative. But it was a move that was for the best for my family, so we packed up and headed west.
After a few months of living in Southern California I've slowly adjusted to life without dramatic shifts in the weather signaling the change of seasons and holidays but it has been rough. The one thing I have found is no matter where wer are, we need to eat. So here I am. By cooking and posting recipes new and near to my heart, I hope to help not feel so sad about missing home. I think it will be fun to combine my cozy, Midwestern cooking style with the light, fresh flavors of Southern California. I hope you will join me as I discover new flavors, have new adventures and adjust to this new while keeping my prairie roots. Welcome to the West Coast Little Prairie Kitchen!
